In Davos Klosters, families can look forward to days on the slopes full of variety and guaranteed snow way into spring. The Bolgen Area at Jakobshorn, Bünda near ParsennRinerhorn and the children's snow park on Madrisa are only a few of the locations that make families’ hearts beat faster. Kids areas, practice runs and ski schools give mini-skiers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with winter sports. Adults can look forward to first-rate slope conditions in high-alpine terrain. 57 lifts and 253 kilometres of slopes provide a perfect setting for countless adventures in the snow.

Bolgen Areal

On Bolgen at the foot of the Jakobshorn, winter sports have been playing a special role for more than 150 years already. That’s where the world’s first ski lift was built. At this same lift, kids practice their turns on the slopes today. The adventure of the dragon Flurin on the Kids Slope also takes place on the Bolgen.

The entire area can be reached on foot, and it’s the perfect location for a family excursion. From a magic carpet (conveyor belt) to practice runs, Kids Slope, ski schools and restaurants, it offers everything you and your little ones need for a great ski day.

It is ideal for families, as the children can practise their first turns here and the parents can relax comfortably on the terrace of the Bolgen Plaza. So everyone gets the best out of it!

Sledging fun

Ready, steady – and off you go down the sledging run!

What’s an absolute must-do while on winter holiday with your family? Going sledging, of course! By day or by night: As soon as you plop down on a sledge, you need to hold on tight – because you’re right on the verge of experiencing a speedy, action-packed ride! The absolute highlight for sledging fans is the thrilling run on Rinerhorn. Banked turns and a length of three kilometres ensure you’ll arrive at the bottom of the run with rosy cheeks and a wide smile on your face.

Or how about airboarding on Pischa? Sounds interesting?

Snowshoe hiking

Little and grown-up winter sports enthusiasts can also experience magical moments off the slopes on Jakobshorn or on Pischa. Equipped with snowshoes, you can slowly make your way up to higher altitudes along mountain ridges – including a tasty meal at one of the huts to refuel for the next stage of your hike. A ride through the mountains with a kick scooter is a fun alternative to hiking. Instead of walking at a slow and steady pace, you can dash down Rinerhorn along a 4.5-kilometre scootering route.

The most beautiful family hiking routes

At a glance

Family hikes in Davos Klosters are a great summer activity! Four mountains ensure boredom won’t stand a chance in summer. Numerous beautiful signposted trails – many of which are suitable for baby buggies and prams – meander through the mountains of the region.

 

Lake Stadlersee on Jakobshorn at 2,519 metres above sea level is great for families. How come? It only takes you about 30 to 40 minutes to get there from the Jakobshorn mountain station. That makes it a leisurely tour even kids can enjoy – and the trail is suitable for baby buggies and prams, too.

Tip: The picnic area with its barbecue spot is a wonderful location for lunch breaks.

Just hop into the cable car and exit at the Jakobshorn intermediate station! The family-friendly tour through Matta Forest will lead you either to Davos or to the Clavadel Show Dairy – an easy hike that takes ambitious little hikers about 1.5 hours.

Tip: At the Show Dairy, you can learn about cheesemaking throughout peak season.

Lush green, blooming Alpine meadows and breathtaking views of the valley: The family-friendly route on Äbirügg is an insider’s tip for hot summer days, and the barbecue location along the trail is an absolute highlight for families. Pack your favourite foods and take the cable car onto Rinerhorn!
