No summer operation on Parsenn Davos in 2025

Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG (DKB) operates the 1st and 2nd sections of the Parsenn cable car and the summit lift to the Weissfluhgipfel summit on Parsenn from mid-July to the beginning of October. In summer 2025, however, no guest operations will be possible on these lifts.

Parsenn cable car under reconstruction

Summer operation will be cancelled in 2025

The 1st section of the Parsenn cable car Davos - Höhenweg was extensively renovated in 2002. It serves the Parsenn ski area, the military and the Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF as the only feeder lift and to a certain extent represents the lifeblood of the entire Parsenn area. In order to ensure the continued availability of the installation, it is essential that the control and drive systems are brought up to the latest state of the art. In addition, maintenance work is required on the track, the vehicles and the safety systems. A reasonable time frame for this work, which offers certainty in planning and execution, is essential. However, this does not allow for guest operations in summer 2025.

Consequently, there will also be no summer operation on the 2nd section of the Parsennbahn and the summit lift. This means that synergies can be optimally utilised for the maintenance and revision work on all three sections as well as the numerous construction sites in the Parsenn area.

Vidal Schertenleib, CEO of DKB, emphasises that the Davos Klosters Mountains will still offer a very wide range of services in summer 2025 with the operation of several feeder facilities and access to four mountains. This is also in comparison to other Alpine destinations. ‘We generally have too many lifts in operation in summer.’ In addition, the added value of summer operations is completely inadequate in relation to the effort involved. ‘Regardless of the operation in summer 2025, we are thinking intensively about the product and the guest segments in summer. After all, despite the wide range of open facilities, guest numbers have been declining since the coronavirus summers of 2020 and 2021. This makes it all the more important for DKB to ensure the availability of the facilities for the winter.’ The winter season is the top priority, Schertenleib continues.
